ABOUT GarageHawk

Our customers have asked that we expand our garage door monitoring and closing capabilities to their mobile device. We listened and are now happy to announce that we have partnered with several vendors to provide this new functionality along with other home automation capabilities.

Background

GarageHawk was developed using a power line communication technology called INSTEON. INSTEON is the best-selling, most reliable home control and automation technology. The use of the INSTEON standard also makes the GarageHawk system expandable with a broad range of other home automation devices available from numerous sources. For example, GarageHawk already has the ability to control temporary path lighting whenever the garage door is opened by simply adding an inexpensive plug-in module or compatible wall switch. A plug-in chime module could also be added to the system to provide a pleasant audible alert whenever the garage door is opened.

INSTEON home automation controllers are configured by the user to automatically control lighting, appliances, thermostats, irrigation, swimming pools, spas, door locks, and now your garage door too (e.g., automatically close the garage door at sunset or after a pre-determined interval).  These reasonably priced controllers can take the form of either hardware-based devices or merely software running on your existing PC or Mac.
